Load connectivity studies focus on impact evaluation of specific disturbing equipment, such as blast furnaces, welding machines, frame saws etc. Impact on ripple control signal is evaluated as well. Mitigating measures are then proposed base on the results. Our studies cover many different industry sectors, in example steelwork, automotive, woodworking, etc. Part of the studies can be an evaluation of delivering auxiliary services.

Connectivity studies are made in compliance valid legislation particularly with law #458/2000Sb., Regulation #16/2016 Sb., Annex 4 PPDS,  Standard series ČSN, PNE 33 3430-0 Calculation evaluation of distribution and transmission system consumers and sources impact, D-A-CH-CZ Regulations and distribution system operators statements.

Connectivity studies comply with all requirements defined in Network Code, PPDS.

Feasibility study is processed through our own software tools for electricity network modeling – DNCalc, which is used by all DSOs in the Czech Republic. Specific task are done using PSCAD and PowerFactory software.

The quality of the created connectivity studies is guaranteed by our specialists who are involved, among other things, in the development of distribution system operation rules and other normative documents.

Our studies cover all voltage levels (LV, MV and HV) in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Our feasibility studies follow valid legislation and are based on close cooperation with investor, contract owner or designer. Feasibility study results in engineering solution draft, which is based on calculations and include, and include discussion with customer regarding possible solutions.

If requested, study included cost benefit analysis of various solutions. Full-scale feasibility study deals with various specific areas such as distribution system impacts, scaling, selecting suitable equipment, protection design as well as investing and operational costs. We make studies for all voltage levels – LV, MV and HV.

Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA)

We make cost–benefit analysis for various power industry sectors. CBA is often part of feasibility study but it can be makes as separate project. The study aims on verification of various elements implementation impact on distribution networks, power injection from generating plants as well as effectivity of changes in generation regarding power quality. CBA includes comparison of various options so investor can select the optimal solutions for given case.

Other studies

We participate in creating studies on national level or studies with impact on significant portion of power industry in the Czech Republic. We are part of various task groups dealing with important issues of power industry by either participating on studies or making them singlehandedly. Our partners in this task are distribution system operators (ČEZ Distribuce a.s., EG.D a.s., PREdi a.s.) ČEPS and others.

We have large number of special meters and analyzers to identify such failures. Based on range and severity of impacts, either short-time (week) or long-time (months) measuring periods are carried on. Subsequent evaluation identifies measures and options available to mitigate failures. Alternatively, improvements can be implemented. They specific design is based on measurements and exiting electric equipment of large consumers.

Subsequent synthesis of findings is utilized to design necessary measures in close cooperation with network operators. These findings include economic issues so the suggested measures suit both system operator service quality, and operating expense.

Regarding the wide range of software tools available we provide the detail analyzation of island operations. This includes so called unintended islands cause by inability of renewable energy sources to disconnect from the network during scheduled maintenance or failures due inappropriate protection setting.

There is increase in power flow and voltage volatility in distribution networks due to higher distributed generation penetration. Therefore detail dynamic analyses are needed, which are focusing on transient phenomena evaluation and defining equipment operation conditions including measures to avoid their unintended disconnection from network, or unwanted impact on other assets connected to the distribution system. Analyses include transient evaluation caused by connection/disconnection of equipment in question, assessment of short circuits etc. These analyses are created using appropriate software such as PSCAD or PowerFactory.

Solutions we support consumers with are as follows:

• high-voltage dimensioning;
• active and reactive power management;
• mitigation of impact of network failures spreading on used technology reliability.

The cooperation can be followed by supplying of support measures including construction and deployment, in case of interest.

We assess the dimensioning of selected power equipment and provide support for designers. We deal with concept of power distribution development, cost calculations and provide cost effective suggestions improving existing state for customer.  These suggestions are based on electrical measurements of specific consumptions.
